Behavioral Health Services

Behavioral health services are provided at the Baker and Petersburg locations as well as the School Based Health Centers in Hardy and Grant Counties. These services include counseling for individuals and families, crisis intervention and short term intervention.

Our Behavioral Health services are integrated with our Primary Care medical services to treat the whole patient.

Carrie Rogers, LPC
Carrie Rogers, LPC

Carrie joined E. A. Hawse Health Center in June of 2022. She graduated from Eastern Mennonite University with a Master’s in Counseling in 2008. She worked at Sentara RMH ER for several years on the Psychiatric Emergency Team and then completed Residency for Licensure. Carrie has been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2018. She is also licensed as an LPC and Board Certified Supervisor for LPC in Virginia. Carrie sees patients in the East Hardy Schools as well as EA Hawse Baker site.

Kenneth Powers, LICSW
Kenneth Powers, LICSW

Ken has been associated with Hawse Health Center since January of 2010. He serves as the Director of Behavioral Health Services and Behavioral Health Therapist. Ken is a strength-based clinical social worker using CBT, TF-CBT, DBT and Person-Centered Therapy. Ken attained his Master of Social Work from WVU in May 2003 and has over 20 years of experience as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in West Virginia, Virginia and Maryland. He is a Board Certified Diplomate through the American Board of Clinical Social Work and Board Certified in Practice with Children and Their Families. He is a Certified CBT Clinician and a Certified Clinical Child & Adolescent Anxiety Treatment Professional. In addition, Ken is also an ADHD-Certified Clinical Services Provider. Ken has provided therapeutic services in residential facility, in-home, school based, outpatient and hospice settings. Ken works with children, teenagers, adults, and parents, helping individuals discover how strengths may be utilized to overcome challenges.

John Lyon, LICSW

John joined E. A. Hawse Health Center in June 2017. He graduated from West Virginia University with a Masters of Social Work in 2017. John practices from the Petersburg, WV office and also sees students at schools in Hardy County.

Nicole Haggerty, LICSW
Nicole Haggerty, LICSW

Nicole joined E. A. Hawse Health Center in September 2016. She graduated from WVU in 2015 with a Masters of Social Work and is a Licensed Independent Social Worker. Nicole sees patients in the School Based Health Center at Moorefield High School as well as the Petersburg, WV office.

Tina joined E.A. Hawse Health Center in December of 2020. She graduated from WVU in 1984 with a Master’s in Counseling, and has been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2000. Tina sees patients in the Moorefield School Based Health Centers as well as the Petersburg, WV facility.

Megan Combs, LGSW

She graduated from Shepherd University in 2012 with a Bachelor’s in Psychology. Then, graduated from West Virginia University in 2017 with a Master of Social Work and has been a Licensed Graduate Level Social Worker (LGSW) since September 2017. She lives in Hardy County with her daughter, Lanah.

Rebecca joined E. A. Hawse Health Center in October 2014. She graduated from WVU with her Masters of Social Work in 2011. Rebecca is seeing patients in Petersburg School Based Health Center and our Petersburg, WV location.

Jackie Cavanagh, TPC

Jackie joined Hawse Health in September 2020. She graduated from the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Marymount University in August 2020. Jacqueline sees patients at the Romney office as well as Romney Middle and Hampshire High Schools.

Shanti Hicks, LGSW
Shanti Hicks, LGSW

Shanti joined the team at Hawse Health in January, 2021. She earned her Master's degree in Social Work and a certificate in Disability Studies from WVU. Shanti has undergrad degrees in Psychology, Sociology, and Elementary Education. She is the proud mom of two smart, kind, and talented teenage boys. Shanti loves working with people and witnessing their progress. In her spare time, she enjoys knitting, traveling, and socializing with friends.

Kylie Brown, LPC
Kylie Brown, LPC

Kylie joined Hawse Health in August 2022 after completing a year of internship with the Behavioral Health Department. Kylie completed her Masters in Professional Counseling with Liberty University and is a Provisionally Licensed Counselor. Kylie sees patients in the School Based Health Center at both Hampshire High School and Romney Middle School as well as at the Romney, WV office.
